Birthday Parties at Discovery Center

Prepare to embark on a birthday bash extravaganza at Discovery Center that will make the Higgs boson jealous of the fun particles being discovered!
Grab your safety goggles and your party hat, because at Discovery Center, every birthday is a Big Bang of excitement!

Party Policies

Discovery Center reserves the right to close any activity or exhibit for the health and safety of guests.
Reservations are required along with full payment.
Reservations can be made online or over the phone: (615) 890-2300.
All adult party-goers must assist in the supervision and safety of their children while in the museum or outdoors.

Leave no Trace

Discovery Center requires a “Leave No Trace” policy.
Glitter, confetti, and piñata's are NOT permitted.
Free-standing or tabletop decorations are permitted.
No tape, tacks, nails, staples, or other adhesives can be used to attach decorations to walls, ceilings, and doors.

Power Up!: Power Up! with one of these exciting challenges and experiments that bring superhero science to life. Choose your training mission:

  • Elasticity Experimentation – Test your measurement skills as you stretch and measure toys to their limits! And mix up your own batch of gooey, super-stretchy slime to take home.
  • Power of Flight Challenge – Design and launch a parachute to help a hero soar in our Wind Tunnel!
  • Freeze Ray Snow Creation – Harness icy powers and make magical Instant Snow to keep as a frosty party favor.

Brick Bash: Get ready to build the best birthday ever! Kids become master builders as they stack, snap, and create with colorful building blocks. In this staff-guided adventure, kids can experiment with new designs and bring their ideas to life!

Creature Feature: Meet 3 of Discovery Center’s resident creatures chosen by the birthday child!

Candyland: Learn the science that goes into making delicious cotton candy!

Wetland Wonders (April - August): Celebrate with an outdoor adventure in our urban wetlands! Explore the fascinating world of wetland plants and animals through hands-on discovery and guided exploration.

Private After-Hours Party

Have you ever wanted an entire museum to yourself? Celebrate your birthday with an evening of play and exploration at the Discovery Center! Private After-Hours Parties include 2 hours of private access to both floors of the museum and all currently open exhibits for 40 children. Bring your own food and presents to enjoy at outdoor tables on the patio or in an indoor classroom – you choose!

Donation Requests

The Discovery Center supports local nonprofit organizations and educational institutions by donating admission passes. The standard donation is two admission passes valued at $24. Donation Requests are processed monthly, and it may take up to two months for a response depending on your requested event date. One request per organization will be considered per calendar year. Please keep in mind that while each request receives careful consideration, we regret that we are unable to accommodate all requests. All requests must be submitted through the form below. Please do not call, email or mail your requests. You will be emailed if your donation is approved. Donations will be emailed to the email address indicated below prior to the event. Organizations must meet the following guidelines to be considered:

  • Donation requests for charitable events must be in the middle Tennessee area.
  • Organizations benefiting children and education receive priority.
  • Fundraisers to benefit an individual or families are not generally honored.

Young Leaders Council Application

Please respond to each of the following questions in order to complete your 2025-2026 Discovery Center Young Leaders Council Member application. Counselor in Training Volunteer Application

Discovery Center at Murfree Spring is seeking reliable, upbeat and positive youth ages 14 - 17 as summer day camp Counselors in Training (CIT) assisting counselors and educators with children in grades K – 6. CITs will assist day camp counselors and educators in delivering age-appropriate activities and crafts and may assist Discovery Center education staff with programming focused on nature, animals, science and design.
