Join Discovery Center to celebrate the diversity of Tennessee through art! Engage with local artists at interactive stations around the museum, visit the Dow Street Music School Petting Zoo, enjoy the Murfreesboro Little Theater as they perform "The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales," or create your own masterpiece with special activities in The STUDIO.

Event is free and open to the public. Sponsored by the Tennessee Arts Commission and the Nissan Foundation.

The Wonder Dance 2024

Put on your disco dancing shoes and dress to impress yourself as you make your way to the Discovery Center for The Wonder Dance.  A special evening for individuals with disabilities and their families. Dance the night away with DJ Amber Morton, enjoy food from Chick-fil-a, explore the museum, and have fun with family and friends. This evening is free but registration is highly encouraged.

Pollinator Workshop hosted by MTSU AgEd

Join us for a lesson all about pollinators! Your kid(s) will walk away from this workshop learning; what type of pollinators there are, what they do, and how they do it. They will also have 4 to 5 different activities to be involved in.

National Engineers Week Celebration

National Engineers Week is a time for kids and their adults to embrace and explore the diverse world of engineering! Join Discovery Center to celebrate amazing engineers and inspire the next generation! Activities available all week during museum hours include:

  • Rube Goldberg challenges

  • Cardboard engineering challenges

  • Kinex in the Wallace & Gromit: Get Cracking

  • Magnetic tile wall challenges in The Studio

Plus, Investigation Station Water Propulsion activity at each day at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm in honor of African American Engineer Lonnie Johnson. Lonnie Johnson was an engineer with NASA and the Air Force that helped design air pressure systems we now see inside Nerf and Super Soaker products!
